- Lamar (alma mater to both of Mike's parents)
- McNeese State (in Louisiana, not in Texas)

- Nicholls State (in Louisiana, not in Texas)
- Northwestern State
- Oral Roberts (considered by many UMKC fans and alumni, Mike included, as their archrival; returning to the Summit League in 2014)
- Sam Houston State
- Southeastern Louisiana
- Stephen F. Austin
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
