More NFL teams for Mike to not consider

No, Mike is nowhere near ready to pick a new NFL team to pull for.

He is, however, ready to jettison more teams from consideration.

We're breaking it down by division and giving you a reminder of Mike's already established thoughts on each team.  However, for chances we will go into detail.

NFC North:
In: Green Bay
Out: Chicago, Detroit, Minnesota

No change

NFC South:
In: New Orleans
Out: Atlanta, Carolina, Tampa Bay

No change

NFC East:
In: NY Giants
Out: Dallas, Philadelphia, Washington

No change

NFC West:
In: Arizona
Out: Seattle, San Francisco, the now former St. Louis team

No change

AFC North:
In: Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh
Out: Baltimore

No change

AFC South:
In: Houston
Out: Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Tennessee

Jacksonville is now out of contention as a possible new team.  Reasons: (a) owner Shad Khan's buying into the anti-STL propaganda, as evident from his comments on that infamous night, and (b) Khan's stewardship of Fulham FC.  He got them relegated in 2013-14, his first year as their owner, to the Championship and nearly got them relegated to League 1 each year since.  Sorry, Shad.  You got hosed out of an opportunity to help St. Louis keep their team, you stabbed them in the back, and you've proven to not be a good owner.

AFC East:
In: New England
Out: Buffalo, NY Jets, Miami

No change

AFC West:

In: none
Out: Denver, KC, Chargers, Raiders

This entire division is out of contention with Denver now out of it.  A number of reasons, including the Wade Phillips factor and the fact that Mike is sick of this division.

Please also note that until their situations with the Chargers and Raiders are resolved, we will be referring to the teams by their team name and not their city.  That said, I guarantee you that this time next year both teams will be playing elsewhere: the Chargers as the second team in LA, the Raiders likely in Vegas.

Episode 201: Batsu Games and June Potpourri

First order of business: issuing batsu games.

For the FA Cup: Mike and Tim will recreate one of two classic movie scenes.

The first possible scene is from A Few Good Men:

The second possible scene is from Planes, Trains and Automobiles:

For the NBA Finals: Mike is using his FREE PASS here, while Tim will be shooting a short campaign ad for Mike's State Senate campaign.

Now on to other issues:

First, we briefly discuss the violence taking place at Euro 2016.  We question why it's even allowed to happen, and how anyone could bring flares to a sporting event in the first place (a common issue throughout football, especially in Europe).

We also have a few obituaries for recently deceased athletes:
Fair use: We close with "I Can Take Anything" from the Planes, Trains and Automobiles soundtrack, followed by the Muhammad Ali scene from Coming to America.

And we do apologize for the technical issues in today's podcast.

Cavaliers win in 7 - Batsu Game!

Congratulations to the Cleveland Cavaliers on winning the 2015-16 NBA Finals, the first championship for ANY team in Cleveland since the 1964 Browns.  The Cavs needed seven games to knock off the defending champion Golden State Warriors, who were coming off an all-time best regular season record of 73-9.

Cleveland becomes the 18th different active NBA team to win the championship.

Had this happened one year ago, Mike would have been safe.

However, this year, off the strength of the Warriors' new regular season standard, Mike joined Tim in picking Golden State to repeat.

Therefore, it is a team batsu game.

The batsu game will be revealed during our next recording session.

Penguins Win Stanley Cup

Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Penguins on winning the 2015-16 Stanley Cup.

Pittsburgh won over San Jose (the team that beat the LA Kings in the first round, thus making them most directly responsible for Mike and Tim having to play the most evil card game ever) in 6 games.

This is the Penguins' fourth Stanley Cup championship.  They also won in 1991, 1992, and 2009.  They are tied with NY Islanders and NY Rangers in terms of times winning Lord Stanley's Cup.  Only the remaining Original Six clubs and Edmonton have won more.
