He is, however, ready to jettison more teams from consideration.
We're breaking it down by division and giving you a reminder of Mike's already established thoughts on each team. However, for chances we will go into detail.
NFC North:
In: Green Bay
Out: Chicago, Detroit, Minnesota
No change
NFC South:
In: New Orleans
Out: Atlanta, Carolina, Tampa Bay
No change
NFC East:
In: NY Giants
Out: Dallas, Philadelphia, Washington
No change
NFC West:
In: Arizona
Out: Seattle, San Francisco, the now former St. Louis team
No change
AFC North:
In: Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh
Out: Baltimore
No change
AFC South:
In: Houston
Out: Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Tennessee
Jacksonville is now out of contention as a possible new team. Reasons: (a) owner Shad Khan's buying into the anti-STL propaganda, as evident from his comments on that infamous night, and (b) Khan's stewardship of Fulham FC. He got them relegated in 2013-14, his first year as their owner, to the Championship and nearly got them relegated to League 1 each year since. Sorry, Shad. You got hosed out of an opportunity to help St. Louis keep their team, you stabbed them in the back, and you've proven to not be a good owner.
AFC East:
In: New England
Out: Buffalo, NY Jets, Miami
No change
AFC West:
In: none
Out: Denver, KC, Chargers, Raiders
This entire division is out of contention with Denver now out of it. A number of reasons, including the Wade Phillips factor and the fact that Mike is sick of this division.
Please also note that until their situations with the Chargers and Raiders are resolved, we will be referring to the teams by their team name and not their city. That said, I guarantee you that this time next year both teams will be playing elsewhere: the Chargers as the second team in LA, the Raiders likely in Vegas.
